January 22, 2024

CONROE – Montgomery County Hospital District is pleased to formally announce Dr. Casey Patrick as Medical Director for MCHD Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The Medical Director is responsible for the medical oversight of MCHD’s nearly 300 Paramedics and EMTs. The Medical Director ensures the strict guidelines and protocols set by the clinical department are upheld on each ambulance that serves Montgomery County on a daily basis. He will also serve as Medical Director for Montgomery County’s 13 Fire Departments.

“Dr. Patrick is an experienced Emergency Department Physician and EMS Medical Director,” said James Campbell, MCHD Chief of EMS. “He is focused on ensuring our crews are prepared to manage our mission and he does so through his passion for patient care, education, training, and research. We are fortunate that Dr. Patrick has been a valuable part of team since 2016, and we are excited to have him as our full-time primary Medical Director.”

Dr. Patrick most recently served MCHD as Associate Medical Director and now assumes the Medical Director role following Dr. Robert Dickson’s retirement. Dr. Dickson will remain with MCHD in a supportive, part-time capacity.

Dr. Patrick grew up in Williamsburg, Kentucky, and received his M.D. from The University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2004. In 2007, he completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at Indiana University and, for the past 15 years, has cared for the local community in multiple emergency departments of hospitals in Montgomery County. Dr. Patrick is board-certified in Emergency Medical Services. His focus areas are data-driven EMS clinical quality improvement and innovative paramedic education delivery. Dr. Patrick developed and still produces the MCHD Paramedic Podcast, which has garnered national and international praise with over 150 episodes and one million listens. Dr. Patrick and his wife, Alyssa, work and live in Conroe, TX. They have five children: Mia, Ainsley, Brock, Dean, and Will.

“I’m beyond excited to assume the position of medical director for MCHD EMS,” said Dr. Patrick. “Having directly witnessed MCHD’s immense growth and clinical progress over the past eight years, I know I have some big shoes to fill. As one of the highest-functioning EMS agencies in the nation, MCHD EMS must continue to raise that high bar for the citizens of Montgomery County. Being a part of this team is my most rewarding professional accomplishment. So, the opportunity to continue in this larger role is incredible.”
